MEDIA ADVISORY: Mayoral Bike Ride Promotes 2016 RAMBLE

TROY, NY (9/19/16) — At 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 20, Troy Mayor Patrick Madden will lead a short bike ride through Downtown Troy. Members of the public are invited to attend a brief ceremony and ride along, starting at Monument Square in Downtown Troy.

In his remarks, Mayor Madden will address the city’s commitment to building, operating and maintaining a safe, reliable, efficient and connected transportation network which provides access for all users no matter how they travel.

The Mayor’s Ride traditionally occurs during the week of the Collar City Ramble, an annual alternative transportation festival that celebrates walking, hiking, bicycle riding, kayaking and all other forms of human powered transportation. This year, the Collar City Ramble will occur on Saturday, Sept. 24 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The theme is urban trails.

The Collar City Ramble is an initiative by Transport Troy, a citizens group dedicated to improving pedestrian and bicycle lanes throughout the city of Troy. This year’s partners include: TAP Inc., Capital Roots, Alta Planning + Design, Rensselaer County Historical Society, CDTA, The National Parks Service, Capital Coexist, The Troy Bike Rescue, The Arts Center of the Capital Region, The Troy Waterfront Farmers Market, Hudson Mohawk Industrial Gateway, The Independent Living Center, NYSCA (New York State Council on the Arts), with project management oversight by 2440 Design Studio.
